Patricia started her work as an LCSW therapist after spending 20 years teaching science. She worked the first 10 years as a therapist in a psychologist's office, engaging in 1:1 therapy and she developed an expertise treating addictions. After that she ran her own private practice and honed her skills as both an addiction therapist and a relationship therapist. Then, Patricia took a different turn and worked for 10 years in a nonprofit community mental health agency. In this setting Patricia developed expertise in treating diverse populations, chronic illness, and in leading groups.
As a teenager Patricia experienced some social rejection with her classmates and had to reinvent herself and find new friends. Even though she held no anger toward those who rejected her, self-esteem issues arose. Despite all that, Patricia had a strong sense of empathy, love and caring for friends and for people suffering in the world. Early adulthood brought some happiness, but relationship issues and identity issues brought her to her own therapy. The therapy experience for Patrica was healing. So much so, that at age 40 she entered graduate school for her Master's in Social Work degree (MSW). She finally found a profession that allowed her to use her innate empathy to help others! During those first 20 years of adulthood, before becoming a therapist, Patricia raised three wonderful children into adulthood. She now has 2 grandchildren. She is on her second marriage. Over the years, Patricia experienced some health issues. Bowel issues caused by Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Diverticulitis emerged and worsened. Desperate for cures, or better management of symptoms, she discovered in 2018 that she had a sensitivity to gluten. Since then, she has lived a gluten free lifestyle. Not wanting to be deprived of favorite foods made with wheat flour, she re-crafted her favorite recipes and found all the best grocery stores and restaurants that cater to the gluten sensitive.
Currently Patricia is practicing therapy virtually, using telehealth with an online platform called growtherapy.com. She is in the process of writing a book entitled "How I cured my IBS and how you can too," available through this website soon. Patrica specializes in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, and family, friend and intimate relationship issues.
